One Little Spark: A Pop-Up Exhibition For Southwark

Last Friday saw the grand launch of ‘One Little Spark’, a pop-up shop on East Street Market that is being stocked an run by young people from the area. As Sam F describes it over on londonist  they are “showing and selling work inspired by the surrounding area and created by local young people … it is a testament to what a group of young people can achieve in a very limited time with a very limited budget”

The building is owned by Peabody, and creation trust have also been involved, along with Southwark Council, but it is clearly the efforts and direction of the young people involved that have made this happen.

One Little Spark is on 57 – 59 East Street, SE17 2DJ, and will be open until Sunday 25th March.

Every Sunday is a ‘meet the artists’ day, when local people are encouraged to come in and meet the people involved, and to talk about the area – what people value, what people want to change, and hopefully will encourage some discussion.
